Biography

Monson- Yvonne A. (Gibeau) Szarlan, 82, passed away, Saturday, March 28, 2015 surrounded by the love of family. Yvonne was born in Springfield, August 13, 1932 to the late Dona and Corinne (Therrien) Gibeau. She was a graduate of Commerce High School, class of 1950. Yvonne retired from the Monson Public Schools, Superintendent's office after 17 years. Yvonne was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Monson, also a member of the Lioness Club, Legion Auxiliary and Republican Town Committee. She was a poll counter for elections, and avid reader and participated in painting classes at the Monson Senior Center. For 15 years she and her husband wintered in Long Key, FL.


Yvonne leaves her loving husband Julian "Ed" Szarlan; a daughter Donna M. Maher and her husband Gregory of Illinois; sons, Edward J. Szarlan and his wife Carolyn of Monson, Michael E. Szarlan of Delaware; six grandsons; David, James, Peter, Michael, Adam, and Ryan; great grandchildren Max and Luke; a sister Estelle Davis of CA. Yvonne was pre-deceased by a sister Jeanette Pereira of Ludlow.


Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015, beginning at 9am in Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St.with Funeral Liturgy at 10am in St. Patrick's Church, burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery all in Monson. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, April 1st from 4-7pm in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick's Restoration Fund PO Box 473 Monson, MA 01057.
