1927-2008
Monson-William Thalassinos died Monday September 1, 2008 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Born in Stanford, CT, he has lived in Monson since 1979. Prior to Monson he was a resident of Hampden. He was a Machinist for various local machine shops and also operated a gas station in Springfield. After his retirement he drove school busses for the Hampden and Wilbraham School systems. Bill âPapaâ?, to his grandchildren, loved to watch their sporting events. He also had a love of jazz and dogs. He enjoyed stopping at tag sales whenever he could. William was predeceased by his wife Joanne S. (Manzi) Thalassinos in 1998. He leaves a son; Timothy Thalassinos of Enfield, Ct, a step son; Dean Christian and his wife Mandy of Monson, two step-daughters; Debra Riley and her husband Paul of Wilbraham and Linda Knowlton of Westminster, VT, a sister; Alice McInerny of Springfield and nine grandchildren Liam and Valerie Christian, Nicholas and Sean Riley, Jeremy Knowlton, Joni Cormier, Colleen Bazin, James and Mark Gneda; and several great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a step-daughter Susan OâGoley. A funeral service will be held Saturday Sept. 6, 2008 at 10am in Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. with burial at Bethany Cemetery all in Monson. A visiting hour will begin at 9am the morning of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226.
