Monson-William Ralph Moore, 81, beloved husband of Sandra and devoted father of Marjory was called from this life on March 11, 2023. Born in Palmer on April 28, 1941 to the late Ralph and Lucy (Corish) Moore of Monson. He attended Monson schools and Monson/Wilbraham Academy. Bill spent his career as a skilled tool and dye maker and retired from Spalding World Wide in Chicopee in 2007. Previously he worked at Zero Corporation for 23 years before their abrupt closing. William married Sandra (Sabettini) on October 27, 1973 in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. They were communicants of St. Cecilia's Church in Wilbraham.
Bill served in the Army National Guard. He was on the board of directors of the Silver Street Chapel and Community Center. He was also member of the Quabbin Fishermen's Association for many years. Bill was an antique car enthusiast. He restored with his brother, a 1961 Chevy Impala hard top convertible which he took pleasure in driving & taking to car shows during the summer months. He enjoyed fishing and his trips to Lake Ontario & the Cape Cod with his brother & close friends. He spent a portion of every summer at the north shore with his family having gone there since childhood.
Bill leaves his wife of 49 years, Sandra and daughter Marjory, who was the light of his life and her fiance Rich Hoffner and cherished grandson, Jude. He leaves his sister-in-law Helen Moore of Monson, brother-in-law Ed McCarron of South Hadley, sister-in-law Linda Sabettini/Piela and her husband Dave of Springfield, along with good friend Chet Zajac and his wife Barbara of Monson. He was predeceased by his devoted brother Tom in 2019 & sister Joan in 1999.
Bill cherished family above all. He is now at peace after a lengthy struggle & courageous battle for many years with Parkinson Disease.
To the staff at Chestnut Hill of East Longmeadow we are forever grateful for their kindness, care, love & concern shown to Bill over the years. Thank the Hospice team of outstanding professionals who guided us through some of the hardest moments.
Lombard Funeral Home of Monson has been entrusted with Bill’s arrangements. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 5-7pm in the funeral home. A gathering of family and friends to form the funeral procession will be Thursday, March 16, 2023 from 8:45-9:15am with Liturgy of Christian Burial at St Cecilia’s Church in Wilbraham at 10am. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery in Monson. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial contribution in Bill’s name to St. Cecilia Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham, MA 01095.
