Pleasant Ridge Plantation, ME -William R. Lombard, 76, died Thursday, September 27, 2012. Born February 22, 1936 in Springfield, MA to the late Francis W. and Mildred L.(Rowell) Lombard, he was a resident of Monson, MA until he retired in 1999 and moved to Pleasant Ridge Plantation.
Bill was a graduate of Monson Academy class of 1954. He served with the United States Airforce. He then graduated from New England Institute in Boston class of 1959 where he received his Diploma in Mortuary Science. Bill owned and operated Lombard Funeral Home in Monson, MA from 1965-1999. He was a former member of National Selected Morticians and the Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association.
Bill was a member of the First Church of Monson Congregational, where he was a past Deacon and Trustee. He was a Past Master (1967) of the Day Spring Lodge of Masons in Monson, a Corporator for the Monson Savings Bank and Monson Home for Aged and served on the Council of Aging.
Bill was an avid outdoors man. He was passionate about hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and ATV riding. Upon his retirement he was able to enjoy these activities to the fullest and belonged to many organizations including, ATV Maine, serving as trails Vice President, Director of Moose Alley Riders ATV Club, prior director of Lexington-Highlanders Snowmobile Club and trail groomer, and a trustee for the Al Langley Memorial Scholarship Committee.
Bill leaves his wife of 16 years, Judith (Beane) Lombard, a son Francis W. Lombard of West Springfield, MA; daughter Lissee Lombard-Krzynowek and her husband Garret of Monson, MA; step-son Russell Webb of Virginia Beach, VA and step-daughter Sherri Cloutier and her husband John of Bedford, NH; seven grandchildren, Nathan, Michael, Amanda, Jared, Joseph, Jack and Victoria and several cousins. Bill was pre-deceased by his sister Sarah L. Stone in 2008.
Visiting hours will be held, Monday, October 1, 2012 from 5-8. At Giberson Funeral Home on River St in Bingham, Maine. Funeral Services will be Tuesday October 2, 2012 at 10am in The First Congregational Church of Bingham on Meadow St. with burial to follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Lombard Funeral Home in Monson, MA. Visiting hours will be 1-3:30 with A Masonic Evergreen service and Memorial Service beginning at 3:30. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Al Langley Memorial Scholarship 13 Beane St. Pleasan Ridge Plt., ME 04920 or to the First Church of Monson Congregational, Steeple, 5 High St. Monson, MA 01057.
