Monson- William David Braskie, 82 passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024. David was born in Palmer on May 5, 1941, to the late William and Rita (Morgan) Braskie. He attended Monson Academy and was a graduate of Monson High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the Army and served during the Vietnam era. David had a strong passion for antique’s and was a master woodworking craftsman. This led him to start his own business with his wife Loraine in 1982, which came to be known as Quaboag Valley Antique Center in Palmer for over 40 years.
David spent many years coaching soccer in Monson and Palmer and some professional level coaching for women’s soccer as well. He also was a coach for the Pioneer Valley Summer Soccer program. He enjoyed gardening, tending to his massive perennial gardens, especially the yearly showing of his iris’s.
David leaves his wife, Lorraine M (Tassinari) Braskie; son, Daniel Braskie and his wife Nicole of Palmer, his daughter Susan Hull and her husband Frank of Monson; his brothers, James Braskie and wife Carolyn of Wilbraham and Brian Braskie and his wife Lenore of Canterbury, New Hampshire. He leaves five grandchildren of whom he loved dearly, Amanda, Frank Jr., Olivia, Grace, Sofia and was excited for his first great grandchild soon to be here. He also leaves his brother in-law and friend Carl, along with many extended family members. David was predeceased by his parents and sister, Judith LaChapelle.
Lombard Funeral Home of Monson has been entrusted with the arrangements. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 5-7pm at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Spring, Saturday May 4, 2024 at 10am with Military Honors at St. Thomas Cemetery.
