Monson-Wallace E. Huntington, 87, formerly of Colonial Village, Monson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Wingate at Hampden. Wally was born in Springfield, Oct. 6, 1923, son of Thelma Boughton Costello and Wallace E. Huntington. He grew up in Granville and lived most of his life in Western Massachusetts. He graduated from Westfield High School Class of 1941, fell in love and married, before joining the Marine Corps in 1943. Wally was a WWII Veteran. As Staff Sergeant he served as a military photographer in the South Pacific and participated in the occupation of China.
Shortly after his return home from the service, he joined the Springfield Union as a staff photographer and later established a business as a commercial photographer. His work included many of the local colleges, several major development and construction firms, Eastern States Exposition as well as the Storrowton Theatre. His achievements throughout his long photographic career earned him many local and national awards for his photojournalism and unique artistic style. Wally's true love for photography lead him to collecting vintage and antique photographica. He then became a dealer in antique cameras and photographic items and was known amongst the antique community as "The Camera Guy"

Wally will be deeply missed by his family; Pat (&Alan) Underkofler of Yuma, AZ, Edward (&Eva) Huntington of Hertford, NC, James (&Michelle) Huntington of Monson, Robert (&Cheryl) Huntington of Monson, Lane Huntington of ME, and Reed (&Sarah) Huntington of Palmer. He has 9 grandchildren Paulina, Justin, Hannah, Trevor, Chelsea, Alan, Jennifer, Craig, and Sarah. He is preceded in death by son, Dan Huntington who died in 2007.

A private graveside service will be held at Granville Cemetery on May 17. Donations may be made to Brightside of Families & Children 1233 Main St. Holyoke, MA 01040.
