Granby-Virgil S. Zambelli, 67 passed away on September 19, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 3, 1957 in Springfield, MA to the late Stephen L. Zambelli and Mildred “Millie” (Grimaldi) Zambelli. He is survived by his loving wife Dianne and beloved daughter Christine, a brother Stephen Zambelli his wife Barbara, niece, Deanna and nephew, Stephen Zambelli. Virgil was employed mostly as a Lab Technician and retired from Jenike & Johanson in Tyngsboro after several years.
Virgil’s interests included all forms of music. He enjoyed playing guitar and keyboards. He also enjoyed kayaking, gardening, hiking the local trails and rock hopping at Monadnock. He was an avid local sports fan, always following Bruins, Celtics, Patriots and Red Sox. Virgil was a unique character, he always wanted to make everyone laugh and was never afraid to be silly. He had the gift to make anyone feel as though he was their long-time friend; he made people feel welcomed and at ease. He was fiercely loyal to his wife, daughter, brother and all others who got to call him a friend. He will be missed greatly by everyone who had the chance to meet him.
Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson has been entrusted with arrangements. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 1-3pm with a service being held at the funeral home at 3pm.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
