Victor Rivard, Sr

Belchertown- Victor L. Rivard Sr., 79, died Thursday, February 13, 2014. Born in Poquonock, CT to the late Victor P. and Margaret (Fahey) Rivard. He was a resident of Monson for many years before moving to Belchertown. Victor owned and operated Steer-Rite tire in Palmer for many years, he then worked for the department of youth services in Springfield and retired from Monson Developmental Center. He enjoyed woodworking and had a love of golf. After he retired he spent many winters in Florida. He was also a member of Amvets and the National Guard.
Victor leaves his wife Helen (Hallez) Rivard; a son Victor L. Rivard, Jr, of Orange Park, FL; two daughters Lynne V. Pradella and her husband John of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and Robin Rivard and her husband George Bakevich of New Hartford, CT; step children, William and Tina Frydryk of CT, Richard and Denise Zawalski of Palmer, Rosalie Decaro of Ware, Richard and Carolyn Poirier of Belchertown; a brother Thomas Rivard and his wife Elaine of Holyoke; sisters Kathy Berry of Dudley, MA , Barbara Galasso of FL, Elizabeth Corish, Margaret Marcotte, Frances and Dennis Trainque all of Monson; four grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and five great grandchildren.. Victor was predeceased by his first wife, Shirley (McEwen) Rivard and a sister, Rita O'Brien.
