MONSON- Tobias D. Benn, 50, passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 where he had been residing for the past year. Prior to that he was a longtime resident in Magnolia, MA. He was born in Gloucester, MA on May 9, 1969, a son of the late Thomas R. Benn and Elizabeth M. Neuburg (Benn-Halliwell) who now resides in Danvers, MA. Toby was educated in Manchester Schools and later attended school in Florida where he attained his general contractors license. He began working with Timberline Enterprises and then owned and operated Tobias Benn Construction for many years and was a very skilled craftsman. He also worked for several years at Farmcreek Construction, McNiff Co. and B. A. Ramsey Construction. He was an avid model railroader, a crew assistant on the dirt track venues for several years, loved his chocolate lab “Palmer”, and was member of the Masonic Lodge in Gloucester. Toby was an accomplished cook notably for his prime rib which he enjoyed preparing for friends and family at the holidays and special occasions. Toby was predeceased by his wife, Linda J. (Wheelock) Benn earlier this year. In addition to his beloved mother Elizabeth and her husband Robert Neuberg, Toby is survived by his siblings, Nicholas Benn and his wife Deborah of Rockport, MA; Christopher Benn and his wife Mary of North Kingstown, RI; and Gabrielle Sherman and her husband Marc of Melrose, MA; a step brother Edward and his wife Liliana Neuburg of NY, NY. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Also uncles, aunts and cousins on the west coast and in Great Britain and several friends and colleagues to remember him. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the Manchester area. Burial will be held privately at sea.
