Thomas James McDonald, wonderful husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully in his home with his family and his cat Henry on May 1, 2017.
Tommy was born on September 28, 1958 in Palmer, MA to Fred McDonald Jr. and Alma McDonald, and grew up riding horses and exploring the woods around "the hill" on Munn Rd. in Monson.
He was a graduate of Monson High School, and worked as a carpenter--often with his son Mark, and with his beloved dog Ziggy by his side or roaming the work site.
He and his wife loved to travel, having gone to Paris, London, Sweden and Amsterdam, and took yearly Red Sox road trips to Toronto and Baltimore. You could always find him on the sidelines and stands of his kids' and grandkids' sports events and dance recitals. Tom loved cooking for his family and friends, reading and hunting. He was a great dancer and singer, enjoyed talking history, sports and politics with friends at the Polish American Citizens Club, and cooking for events including the annual 13-run pool lobster dinner and pig roasts. He will be remembered for his laugh, sense of humor and love and devotion to his family.
He is survived by his loving wife--the love of his life and high school sweetheart--Laurette (Bertrand) McDonald, and his children Theresa Martinson and partner, Heather Korzec, Keri Martinson and husband Chris, Abbey Tiderman and husband Staffan, Amanda McDonald, and Mark McDonald and wife Leah.
He was proud Papa to fifteen grandchildren; Makayla Rose, Kyle Thomas, Julia Kay, Noah Christopher, Amaya Grace, Sierra Laurette, Amelia May, Luke James, Keyan Henry, Farrah Elizabeth, James Lamon, Marcus Jan, Gemma Therese, Lina Laurette, and Emmett Thomas.
He is also survived by his siblings Donnie Pelletier, Jackie Pelletier, Judy Haas, Ricky McDonald and Susan McDonald. He is predeceased by his parents and infant sister.
