Theodore Kapinos
January 22, 1922 — February 17, 2012
Monson-Theodore T. Kapinos, age 90, died Friday, February 17, 2012 surrounded by his family. Born January 22, 1922 in Chicopee to the late Joseph and Mary (Lizak) Kapinos, he resided there until moving to Monson to be closer to family. Ted joined the Civilian Conservation Corp and served in Colorado, Wyoming and Holyoke. When WWII began he enlisted in the Navy and served in the Pacific for the duration of the war. Later he worked at the Springfield Armory and retired from Westover Airforce Base in 1978 as a boiler room operator.
Mr. Kapinos was predeceased by his wife Gertrude T.(Benoit) Kapinos. He leaves a son, Joseph J. Kapinos of Springfield and a daughter Mary Nothe and her husband Eldon of Monson; four grandchildren Rebecca Shea and her husband Patrick, Adam Nothe, Aaron Nothe and his wife Angela and Paul Nothe and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday March 3, 2012 at St. Stanislaus of the Basilica, Front Street in Chicopee at 10am with burial to follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery also in Chicopee. The family wishes to thank Redstone Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and Beacon Hospice for their loving care.
