Monson -Stanislaw (John) J. Czapla- 93, passed away September 14, 2018. John was born in Three Rivers on May 12, 1925 to the late Stephen Czapla, and Julia (Poliwoda) Czapla. John graduated from Palmer High School. After graduation, John proudly enlisted on October 27,1943 and served his country during WWII in the United States Army Air Corps, in the CBI theatre, with the 10th Air Force Division until his honorable discharge on April 24,1946. John reenlisted in the United States Air Force on February 4,1951, and served during the Korean War, until his discharge on October 5,1952. John went on to work as a mechanic for Diamond Cascade in Palmer, for more then 45 years. He owned many planes and was a pilot for Diamond Cascade, and Ware Knitters. He was part of the Western Mass Aviation Association, the Experimental Aircraft Association, and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He was a communicate of St. Patrick's Church in Monson. John was predeceased by his wife Marie M. (LaPierre) Czapla. He leaves his daughters Donna M. Pikul and husband Roger of Monson, Lu-Ann Czapla of Ware, his brother Joseph Czapla of Belchertown, his sister Edna Czapla of Wilbraham, his grandchildren Dan Pikul of Monson, and Dennis Pikul of Mesa, AZ.
Visiting hours will be held for John Thursday, September 20, from 5-7pm at Lombard Funeral Home, 3 Bridge St. in Monson. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Friday September 21, at 10:00 am in St. Patrick's Church, followed by burial with Military Honors at St. Thomas' Cemetery in Palmer.
