Russell L Evasius

February 10, 1943 — November 4, 2017

Monson- Russell L. Evasius, 74, died Saturday, November 4, 2017. Russ was born in Ware to the late Doris Bedford and Peter S. Evasius.  He grew up in Monson and was a graduate of Monson High School. He was a Vietnam Veteran with the US Airforce and served 1965-1966 with the US Expeditionary  Forces located in the central highlands of Vietnam and then was a member of the 551st CMBT support group located at camp "Holloway" Pleiku, Vietnam.  After his honorable discharge Russ worked for many years in construction at the former Monson Sand & Gravel and M&M Paving.  He was a member of the local 98 operating engineers and retired in 2008. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He served as a Past Commander of Post 241 and VFW Post 2577 of Ware. Russ enjoyed fishing, hunting and cooking. He was and avid RedSox and Patriots fan and enjoyed trips to Moheagan Sun.

Russell leaves his three sons, Darren Evasius of Monson, Daniel Evasius of Warren, Dean Evasius and his wife Melinda of Tennessee; a brother Richard Evasius and his wife Roberta of Ohio; sister Cheryl Evans and her husband David of Onset, MA; two half sisters Robin and Rene Bedford Crawford  both of Ware, 2 granddaughters Hannah and Audrey Evasius; a grandson Steven Fennyery; his former wife Elizabeth Evasius of Monson and Catherine Evasius of Bondsville; many nieces and nephews and his fearless and loyal cat, Koko.  Russell was predeceased by his twin brother Roy Evasius in 2004.

All services are private for family and close friends, Friday, November 10, 2017 at 1pm at Bethany Cemetery in Monson.
