Roy Legrand

Biography

Roy Arthur LeGrand, 90, died Thursday, October 14, 2010. Born in Palmer to the late Arthur and Arline (Leach) LeGrand, he has been a lifelong resident of Monson. He worked for Squire & Co., Inc. in Monson for over 60 years. He retired in March of 2006. Roy was a member of the Monson Fire Department for 35 years and he retired as Chief after serving in that position for five years. He was a member of Mass Fire Chiefs and International Fire Chiefs, he was a past selectman, chairman of the Finance Department and also a special police officer. Roy was a 65 year member of the Day Spring Lodge of Masons in Monson, a member of Scottish Rite of Pioneer Valley Springfield and a member of Melha Shrine of Springfield. He also enjoyed antique shows where he sold antique glass.
Roy was pre deceased by his wife of 56 years Olga (Olson) LeGrand in 1996. He leaves a son Arthur LeGrand and his wife Faron of Sunman, Ind; a daughter Sandra (LeGrand) Dodson and her late husband Raymond of Monson; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
