Hampden, MA/Port Charlotte, FL/Whitefield, NH - Rollyn H. Hatch, 93, peacefully passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023 in Lancaster, New Hampshire. Since April of 2023, he was a resident at The Summit in Whitefield, NH. Rollyn was born in Springfield, MA September 30, 1929, to the late Carl H. and Barbara (King) Hatch. He grew up and raised his family in Hampden, MA. He was a graduate of Bentley College in Boston and began his accounting career. Rollyn worked for Spaulding Sporting Goods and then Northeast Utilities Service Company retiring in 1989.
Rollyn was a Past Master and 72 year member of The Meadows Lodge of Masons in East Longmeadow, MA and Past District Deputy Grand Master. He was also a member of the Federated Community Church of Hampden for 77 years.
For many years, Rollyn was a Hampden Volunteer Fireman and he served on various committees for the Town of Hampden and the Hampden Wilbraham School District as well as many other volunteer positions throughout the community.
Since his retirement, summer months had been enjoyed on Lake Winnipesaukee, Alton Bay, NH and the winter months were spent in Port Charlotte, Fl. He was always up for playing cards, a round of golf, a boat ride on the lake or a rousing game of Caroms. His greatest joy was spending time with family and traveling around most of the US in his motorhome with his wife. He was a lifelong Red Sox fan attending his first game with his father and grandfather at the age of 12.
Rollyn was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara D. (Dusenberry) Hatch in 2013. He leaves his sons; Alan G. Hatch (Keeley) of Gloucester, MA, Robert C. Hatch (Barbara) of Little Torch Key, FL; daughters Nancy E. Owen (Richard) of Bethlehem, NH, Marilyn H. Mapes (John) of Wasilla, AK; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a brother, Larry Hatch (Eva) Hampden, MA ; sister in-law, Judy Hatch, Hampden, MA, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Norman Hatch and Richard Hatch.
Services have been entrusted to Lombard Funeral Home of Monson, MA. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, September 10 from 1-3pm in the funeral home. The Masonic Evergreen Service will be held to conclude the visiting hours. A funeral service will be held Monday, September 11, 2023 at 10am in the Federated Community Church of Hampden. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill in Hampden.
