Springfield- Robert M. Deland, 65, passed away January 29, 2018 surrounded by the love of family. Robert was born January 7, 1953 in Palmer to the late George H. DeLand and Mildred Lois (Clark) Wilcox. He grew up in Monson before moving to Springfield. For many years he was a welder at Palmer Structural Steel and more recently he worked at S&S Paint in Springfield. Bob enjoyed fishing, motorcycles and working on inventions.
Bob leaves his life partner, Andree Charest of Springfield; his mother, Mildred Lois Wilcox of Springfield; his aunt, Jean Abbott; his brothers, Alan G. DeLand and his wife Carol of Monson, Mark H. DeLand and his wife Sandra of New Hampshire, Robin W. DeLand and his wife Rose of Monson; sisters, Darleen A. Brouthers of Monson, Alana C. Nolan and her husband Timothy of Palmer, Allison J. Romaniack of Three Rivers; Many nieces and nephews, Andree's children, Annie Cordero and her husband Jose, Onil Charest and his wife Elsie, Marie-Claude Torres and her partner Rich Godbout; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, February 9, 2018 from 10-12pm with a funeral service at 12pm in Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sister Caritas Cancer Center 271 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104.
