Richard Verville

August 25, 1942 — August 13, 2012

Biography

Wales- Richard F. Verville of Wales, formerly of Monson, husband of Wanda Keaton Verville, passed away peacefully, August 13, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Richard was born on August 25, 1942 in Holyoke, the son of Emile and Ann Verville. He leaves his wife Wanda of Hampden and is also survived by his son Mark Verville and his wife Lisa of Feeding Hills and their children Cameron and Adam Verville; a daughter Lisa Chaffee; step sons Nathaniel, Zachary, Joshua and Jonathan Keaton of Hampden; and his loving brothers Pete, Kenneth and Jimmy, and Peepers his loving cat. Dick, as almost everyone called him, served proudly in the U.S. Coast Guard. Dick was a professor at Springfield Technical Community College in Springfield for 30 years, he served as Assessor for Holland and Wales and was co-founder of Make A Wish Foundation of Western, MA. But nothing else in Dick's long life could possibly compare with the love he had for fishing. The family would like to thank the staff at Mercy Hospital, intensive care unit, for their kindness and professionalism during this difficult time. They were more like family to us than part of the hospital. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Dick's memory be made to Make A Wish Foundation of Western MA, 181 Park Ave, West Springfield, MA 01089. Funeral arrangements are private.
