Richard Smart

Biography

Monson- Richard T. Smart, 75, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014. Born in Ware to the late Thomas and Sophie (Soltys) Smart he has been a life long resident of Monson. Richard owned and operated RT Smart & Sons Firewood and Logging since 1973. He was a trusted logger and a true gentleman. Richard enjoyed hunting, was a NASCAR fan, loved to travel and enjoyed relaxing on the Maine coast.

Richard was predeceased by his wife Jane Ann (Moriarty) Smart in 1997. He leaves two sons Stephen Smart and his wife Beverly of Brimfield, Darryl Smart and fiancee` Kathleen Gagne of Monson; a sister Sheila Koran and her husband Sam of Monson; a grandson Justin Smart and several nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his brother Thomas Donald Smart in 2012.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 17, 2014 beginning at 9:15 from Lombard Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Patrick's Church, burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery all in Monson. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, February 16th from 1-4 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick's Restoration Fund PO Box 473 Monson, MA 01057.
