Richard L Sieron

September 10, 1933 — October 14, 2022

Richard (Dick) Leonard Sieron, 89, of Milford, CT, passed away on October 14, 2022. He was born on September 10, 1933 in Palmer, MA to the late Alonzo F. and Lucy (Billodeau) Sieron. In high school, he attended Monson Academy, and Cathedral High School in Springfield, MA. Dick graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1955 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. During his career, he worked as an electrical engineer and a software engineer. He was very proud of his 18 patents, especially his patent for emergency lighting, which is now standard equipment in most buildings.

Dick leaves his wife of 28 years, Gloria, and his five children and their spouses: Carol and Gary Polyviou of Madison, CT, Nancy and Hank Johnston of Ivoryton, CT,  Mark and Denice (Davila) Sieron of Havre de Grace, MD, Cathy and Paul Goldsborough of Damascus, MD, and Ruth and Escott Smith of Niantic, CT. He also leaves 10 grandchildren: Allison (Donald) Strait, Jonathon (Heather) Polyviou, Kate (Tim) Kumnick, Molly (Dan) Feenan, Maria (Jon) Selfridge, Stephen Sieron, Escott Smith, Hannah Smith, Samantha Goldsborough, and Joseph Goldsborough, and 7 great grandchildren: Emma, Donald Jr. (Junior), and Max Strait, Natalie and Tess Kumnick, and Spencer and Sydney Feenan. Dick was predeceased by his sister, Carolyn Noble.

In addition to his five children from his first marriage to Edna (Milde), Dick leaves two stepchildren from his second marriage to Hella (Werner): Wayne Shevlin (Bridget Thomson) and Nina (Claude) Chartrand, and four stepdaughters from his marriage to Gloria (May): Laurel and April Koegel, Michelle (Dave LeBlond), and Wendy (Yves Parent).

Dick had an adventurous spirit. He enjoyed sailing (especially in the British Virgin Islands) and travel. He, along with his wife, Gloria, achieved his goal of visiting all seven continents. Dick was a classically accomplished pianist and a lifelong Bridge player. He enjoyed a lively debate, and would discuss the universe and religious theories, among other topics, with great enthusiasm. Most who knew Dick would agree that he had a challenging disposition, but that he was an interesting and inquisitive man, who had a good heart.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 10-12 at the funeral home. Weather permitting, burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery in Monson.
