Richard A. Morris, 71, passed away peacefully at his cabin in Gouldsboro, July 2, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Worcester, MA, July 3, 1944 the son of Robert H. and Helen (Carew) Morris.

Dick was Brimfield’s Emergency Management Director, a constable, a long-term member of the Brimfield Fire Department and was past president of the Brimfield Ambulance Service. Dick was a 25 year employee of Bay Bank and retired from Merrill Lynch Trust Company in 2006. He was a past director of the Estate Planning Councils of Hampden County and of Boston, served as a past director of the Chartered Life Underwriters of Springfield, and served as chair of the Investment Committee of the Wing Health Foundation.  Dick was a past president and trustee of the Hitchcock Free Academy and a member of the First Congregational Church of Brimfield for 48 years, during which time he chaired many committees, served as church moderator, and was a 40-plus year choir member. Dick was also a director of the Brimfield Area Master Singers and a member of the Gouldsboro Historical Society.

Besides his mother, Dick leaves his high school sweetheart and wife of 50 years, Sandra Pauly Morris; children, Richard, Jr. of Sudbury; Laura Fowler and husband Daniel of Hermon, ME; and Melissa Young and husband Jason of Paxton; eight grandchildren, Ben and Anya Morris; Danny, Katie and Mike Fowler; Abby, Hannah and Chloe Young; sister, Catherine M. Lloyd; several nieces and nephews; and many friends and neighbors who rallied to support him and his family when he was ill.  Dick was predeceased by his father Robert H. Morris in 1996.

Friends are invited to call 6-8pm, Monday July 18, 2016 at Lombard Funeral Home, 3 Bridge Street, Monson, MA. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the First Congregational Church of Brimfield, MA. Interment at the Brimfield Cemetery.
