Biography

Monson- Raymond C. Manley, 85, of Stafford Rd., passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord, surrounded by the love of family, Sunday, September 22, 2013. Born July 25, 1928 in Springfield, MA to the late Edward L. and Harriet (Gelina) Manly Sr., he was a graduate of Somers High School and a long time resident of Monson. Raymond married the love of his life Doris M. (Kibbe) Manly October 8, 1949 and spent 61 happy years together until her passing in 2010. Ray and Doris are the parents of Deborah Ann Bogoff of Montgomery and Christine Mary Thayer of Monson. Ray will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Aja Riesberg, Ariel Bogoff, Benjamin Thayer, Noah Bogoff; great grandchildren, Ella Ray and Ty Riesberg and sister Sally A. Campbell and her husband Christopher of Northampton. Ray was predeceased by his brother Edward L. Manly Jr and his sister in-law Marilyn Manley.

Ray retired from CF. Church Co in Monson after 30 years. He was the Union president for CF Church before he became the plant manager. He was active with the Monson Rotary, volunteer with the Monson Fire Department and Monson Police Department, and a Communicant of St. Patrick's Church. He had a love of golf, fishing, hunting and traveling with his beloved Doris. After retirement Ray was busy as a cabinet maker and he worked for Walt's Paint and Papering.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2013 from 4-6pm at Lombard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday September 26, beginning at 9:15 from the funeral home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Patrick's Church. Burial will follow at Old Cemetery in Hampden. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Monson Fire Department Ambulance Fund PO Box 335 Monson, MA 01057.
