Holland-Rachel G. (Jalbert) Dusza, 88, died Tuesday, July 25, 2017 surrounded by the love of family. Rachel was born January 12, 1929 in Southbridge to the late Josephat and Mabel E. (Benoit) Jalbert. She attended school at Notre Dame and was a graduate of Southbridge High School and Springfield Trade School. Rachel was a telephone operator in Southbridge. She then worked for a period of time at Forbes and Wallce in Springfield, was a window dresser for a local retailer and worked at Russell Harrington Cutlery Co. She retired from the Holland Elementary School as an instructional aid after almost 20 years. Rachel was a member of St. Christopher's Church in Brimfiled. She was on the Parish Council and taught CCD at St. Christopher's and St. Bernadette Mission. She was a member of the Holland Women's Club and a 4-H leader. She enjoyed knitting, painting and reading.
Rachel is pre-deceased by her husband Rene Plasse in 1953 and her husband Francis Dusza in 2007. She leaves her daughter Elizabeth (Ellie) Matrow and her husband Peter of Monson; her son, James Dusza of Holland and former daughter in-law Dorothy Dusza of Wales; and three grandchildren Robert Matrow and his wife Amanda of Palm Bay, FL, Jacqueline Dusza of Torrance, CA and Joseph Dusza of Holland. Rachel was pre-deceased by her brothers Roland Jalbert and Oswald Jalbert.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, July 28, 2017 from 5-8pm at Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 10am in St. Christopher's Church, Route 20 , in Brimfield. Friends are asked to gather directly at the church. Burial will follow at New Notre Dame Cemetery in Southbridge. Memorial contributions may be made to Maryknoll Fathers & Brothers, P.O.
