Paul F. Batch, Jr., 58, a resident of Monson for over 20 years died Thursday July 1, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Holyoke, MA to the late Paul F. Batch Sr. and Constance (Turconi) Gancarz, he was a graduate from the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford, CT, class of 1972. Paul was the Program Director for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services at Stavros Center for Independent Living. He was also active and served in many different capacities with the MA State Association for the Deaf; Holyoke Athletic and Social Club for the Deaf; Western MA Deaf Professionals Group; International Catholic Deaf Assoc., Chapter 121;Western MA Assoc. for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired and a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Monson. Paul spent many of his former years working on automobiles. Since becoming an advocate at Stavros Center for Independent Living, equal access for deaf and hard of hearing people has been at his forefront. Paul especially was one of the first to advocate for video phones for all deaf people in all venues.

Paul leaves his wife of 32 years Diana M. (L'Heureux) Batch; a son Paul F. Batch,III and his fiancee` Tammy Boutin of Bristol, CT; a daughter Emily R. Graves-Harrison and her husband C. Brian Graves-Harrison of Monson; sisters Annmarie Lapierre and her husband Ronald of Springfield, Sharlene Crane of Indian Orchard, Alexandria Johnson and her husband Kevin of Sommerville, CT; two grandchildren, Aiden and Madigan Graves-Harrison; sisters in-law and brothers in-law, Jacqueline and JD Watson of Holyoke and Joan and Gene Kiral of Jefferson City, MO;several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews . Paul was also predeceased by his brother Rod (Jimmy) Batch and his step-father Stanley Gancarz.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2010 in Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson at 10am with burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery also in Monson. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, July 6th from 5-8pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Batch Family 20 Country Club Drive Monson, MA 01057. The family will forward donations to favorite organizations of Paul.
