Palmer/Southbridge-Palmer N. Santucci, 66, of Southbridge, MA died tragically on Friday, March 27, 2009 at U-Mass Memorial hospital in Worcester, from a brain hemorrhage. Born in Milford, MA on January 23, 1943 he was the son of the late Palmer Sr. and Anna (DiCrescentis) Santucci. He moved to the Town of Palmer in the mid 1950’s where he lived for 37 years. He was a graduate of Palmer High School Class of 1961. He then entered the military service and served 6 years in the National Guard and Army Reserve during the Vietnam Conflict. In 1964 he married Linda Hermanson. He worked 17 years at Park Street Foundry, a family owned business. Then in 1978 he made a career switch and worked for the Mass Attorney General’s Office. Palmer loved being involved in town government and dedicated several years of public service in the town of Palmer, MA in a variety of positions: 4 years selectman, 3 years chairman of the Finance Committee,5 years Finance Committee member, and 9 years as water commissioner. He was heavily involved in the Democratic Town Committee, a member of the Prudential Committee, a member of the American Legion Post #130 in Palmer and Amvets Post #74. In 1982 he decided to invest in Real Estate and for many years he managed those properties. In 1994 he returned to work at the Mass Attorney General’s Office and retired under disability in 2006 due to kidney failure. Most importantly many of us will remember Palmer for his willingness to help others. He leaves his wife Linda (Hermanson) Santucci; brother Carlos Santucci; sisters and brothers in-law Carol and Robert Gregoire, Jane and Robert Poulin and John Hermanson. He also leaves many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held Friday April 3, 2009 at 12:30pm at the American Legion, Post #130 on Thorndike St. in Palmer with a reception to follow.

A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.
