Biography

Palmer-Muriel L. (Heath) Morrell, 97, passed away March 7, 2013 at Wingate at Wilbraham. She was born in Chelsea, Vermont, July 3, 1915, daughter of Percy and Florence Heath. She graduated from Chelsea schools and completed her Nurses training at Gifford Memorial Hospital in Randolph, Vermont. In 1939 she married Pasquali Morrell of Bethel, Vermont. After a long and happy marriage of 59 years she was predeceased by him in 1998. She was also predeceased by a brother Gordon and sister Phyllis. Muriel leaves three children, Nancy Santucci and her husband David of Kissimmee, FL, Marilyn Fimbel of Wildwood, FL and John Morrell and his wife Nancy of Monson. Son in-law William Fimbel predeceased her in 2002. She leaves seven grandchildren and was predeceased by a granddaughter Lisa in 1982. She also leaves ten great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter, Evie Louise.

Muriel was an avid baseball fan and with her husband "Pat" they visited every baseball park in the country. She loved travel and kept up with family thru maps and atlases. She also loved crossword puzzles and reading. She read the newspaper daily, cover to cover. Muriel worked on the railroad cook car for many summers. In earlier years she played the church organ. She loved her garden and home, and kept each with great attention and love. She was a loving spouse, Mother, and Grandmother who always was there when needed. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2013 from 4-7pm at Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 14, 2013, with funeral procession forming at 9am at Lombard Funeral Home followed by Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Thorndike St. in Palmer. Committal prayers will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery also in Palmer. Memorial contributions may be made to St.Thomas the Apostle Church Thorndike St. Palmer, MA 01069.
