Biography
East Longmeadow- Mary Margaret Serra, 83, Died Friday, March 2, 2012. Born in Frankfort, Kentucky, to the late Samuel and Margaret (Williams) Gunther, she was a longtime resident of East Longmeadow. Margaret lived her life in the spirit of caring for and giving to others. She deeply loved her children and grandchildren, to whom she has passed along her passions for music, cooking and gardening. Professionally, she served for many years as a bookkeeper for area businesses.
Mother, I love you so.
Said the child, I love you more than I know.
She laid her head on her mother's arm,
And the love between them kept them warm.
She leaves two daughters Sandra LeFebvre of Greeneville, TN and Paula Hinzman of Atlanta, GA; three sons David Ardis of Hendersonville, NC, Dan Serra of Monson and Robert Serra of Monson; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Margaret was predeceased by her son Charles Ackerman in 2000.
A private funeral service will take place on a later date at Riverview Memorial Park in North Charleston, South Carolina. Memorial contributions can be made in her name to 'Community Music School of Springfield', 127 State Street, Springfield, Massachusetts 01103.
