Biography
Monson-Mary J. Augustine-Riggie, 68, died Sunday, January 4, 2015. Mary was born in Palmer, July 16, 1946 to the late Michael J and Edna C. (Nocross) Augustine, Mary was a graduate of Monson High School and has been a life long resident of Monson. She worked at Monson Developmental Center for several years and prior to MDC she worked at Mass Mutual in Springfield. Mary was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Monson and was a member of the Monson Polish American Citizens Club where she ran the pitch leauge for many years. She also enjoyed reading and collecting aprons.
Mary leaves her husband and best friend Donald E. Riggie; her daughter, Michele A. Cady and her husband Scott of Tolland, Ct; step children, Brian Riggie and his wife Cindy of Ware, Shannon Riggie and Steve of Agawam; grandchildren, AJ Cady, Joey and Courtney Riggie; sisters in-law, Constance Riggie, Carol Stabach, Mary Banas and her husband Phil; niece, Karen George Markham; cousins Lorraine Penyak and husband Duane, William Augustine, Elizabeth Augustine and Preston, Frank Augustine and wife Kris, Judi Bourque and Bonnie Bradway; life long friends, Nancy Ungewitter and Mary Linkenhoker, and many other cousins and friends. Mary was pre-deceased by her parents and a sister Irene George.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 5-7pm in Lombard Funeral Home, 3 Bridge St Monson. A funeral service will be Friday, January 9, 2015 at 11am in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104.
