Marian Galas

Biography

Monson- Marian M. (Sherman) Galas, 89, of Cushman St., died Tuesday, December 31, 2013. Born in Palmer to the late Edwin D. and Nellie A. (Truman) Sherman, Marian has been a long time resident of Monson. Marian graduated from Monson High School and attended Bay Path College. She worked at Monson Savings Bank for over 20 years and was a volunteer at the Monson Free Library. Marian was a member of the Monson-Glendale United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Quaboag Rebekah Lodge #169, and the Monson Historical Society.

Mrs. Galas was predeceased by her husband Albion H. Galas in 1983. She leaves her son Gary S. Galas and Susan Townsend of Monson and her daughter Pamela N. Williams and Richard Mitchell of Dennisport.

A funeral service will be held, Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 11am in Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson with burial to follow at Hillside Cemetery also in Monson. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Monson Free Library High St. Monson, MA 01057 or the Monson-Glendale United Methodist Church 162 Main St. Monson, MA 01057.
