Biography

Monson- Lois (Buffington) Ellis, 94, a life long resident of Monson, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012. Born in Palmer, October 18, 1917 to the late Allen J. and Esther (Beckwith) Buffington, she was a graduate of Monson High School and worked as an Inspector at CF Church Co., known as "The Best Seat in the House" for over 40 years. Lois was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Parish of Monson, a member of Eastern Star, Carrie A. Cushing Chapter; Rebekah Lodge; a member of the Ladies Auxillary for the VFW and American Legion and a volunteer at the Church Mouse Thrift Shop which she helped organize.
Lois was predeceased by her husband Freeman M. Ellis in 2006 and her brothers Donald A., Ralph B., Charles R., John F. Buffington and her sister Eunice (Buffington) Thorin Johnson Schoppe. She leaves her nieces and nephews, Esther Buffington, Bob and Debbie Buffington, Pat Buffington, Joyce (Buffington) Schoppe and Roger Buffington also grandnieces and grandnephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Lombard Funeral Home in Monson. a visiting hour will begin at 10am with the Funeral Service at 11am. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery also in Monson. Memorial contributions may be made to the Unitarian Universalist Parish of Monson Main St. Monson, MA or to the Monson Senior Center Main St. Monson, MA 01057.
