Leonard Poirier

Brimfield-Leonard H. Poirier, 87, of Haynes Hill Road, died Thursday May 17, 2012 at the Holyoke Soldiers' Home. Born October 11, 1924, to the late Frederick and Exilda (Duquette) Poirier, he has been a long time resident of Brimfield. Leonard was a WWII Army Veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart as well as the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon with one Bronze Service Star and the WWII Victory Medal and Ribbon. Leonard was a self employed construction contractor installing septic tanks for over 45 years. He was working part-time pumping tanks until January 2010. Leonard was also the Brimfield Highway Superintendent for many years. He was a communicant of St. Christopher's Church in Brimfield, was a member of the Knight's of Columbus and the American Legion in Brimfield.
Mr. Poirier was pre-deceased by his wife in 2004, Dorothy A. (Christiansen) Poirier and a son, Carl H. Poirier in 1989. He has also been predeceased by his nine siblings;Theresa Poirier, Loretta Langevin, Hellena Keller, Anita Trombley, Annette Felton, Clarice Fox, Roland Poirier, Maurice Poirier, and Real Poirier. He leaves many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2012 from 6-8pm at Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 10am in St. Christopher's Church in Brimfield. The family requests you join them directly at church.
