Leona S. Cantwell
1930-2008
Monson-Leona S. (Kozlik) Cantwell, 77, of Colonial Village died Thursday, August 28, 2008. Born in Palmer to the late Aloysius and Pauline (Bigda) Kozlik, she was a graduate of Palmer High School and has lived in Monson since 1952. Leona worked at the former C.F. Church Co in Monson and then worked at Monson Developmental Center before her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Patrickâs Church and was active in crocheting prayer shawls. Leona also volunteered at the Little Sisters of the Poor in Enfield, CT. She was an active member at the Monson Senior Center and loved to play cards and dominoâs with her friends. Leona was predeceased by her husband Richard F. Cantwell Sr. in 1993 and her son Richard F. Cantwell Jr. in 1968. She leaves three sons Daniel Cantwell and his companion Beverly Lemon of Monson, Laurence Cantwell and his wife Kathy of Monson and Thomas Cantwell and his wife Amy of Bondsville and a daughter Julie Bird and her husband Robert of Monson. Three sisters; Evelyn Moynahan of Brimfield, Dolores Polverari of Monson and Dorothy Lesko of Sunderland. Five grandsons Edward Bird, Jared Cantwell, Richard Cantwell, Larry Cantwell, Jr. and Benjamin Cantwell. She was also predeceased by two brothers Frederick and Edward Kozlik. Funeral services will be Wednesday September 3, 2008 beginning at 9:15 from Lombard Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Patrickâs. Church and burial at Bethany Cemetery all in Monson. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 5-8 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Patrickâs restoration Fund PO box 473 Monson, MA 01057 or to Baystate VNA and Hospice.
