Biography
Monson-Kathleen E. (Fleming) Donovan, 92, died Wednesday, May 27, 2015 surrounded by her family at Marina Bay Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Quincy, MA. Kathleen was born August 9, 1922 in Ware to the late Patrick H. and Mary (McMahon) Fleming. She was a graduate of Ware High School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. Kathleen was a registered nurse and retired from Mercy Hospital in Springfield as a head nurse in 1982. In 1949 Kathleen married William F. Donovan and they made their home in Monson with their four children. Kathleen was naturally gifted at caring for the ill and her passion for nursing touched the lives of many patients during her career. Always dressed to the nines, she took great pride in her appearance, setting an example for her daughters as her mother did for her. She was an avid reader of mystery novels, a lover of animals, and most of all a devoted wife, mother, and Nana.
Kathleen will be greatly missed by her husband of 65 years, William F. Donovan; son Kevin Donovan and his wife Mary of Kennebunk, Maine; daughters Kathleen Bergeron and her husband Stephen of Somerset, MA, Mary Hajjar and her husband Peter of Hanover, MA, Patricia Fleming and her husband Michael of Sidney, Maine; grandchildren David Donovan, Patrick Donovan, Erin Donovan, Maeghan Donovan Corbo, John Breth, Morgan Young, Kyle Bergeron, Molly LaCroix, Kaitlyn Hajjar, Michaela Hajjar, Phillip Hajjar, Samantha Fleming, Ryan Fleming; and great-grandchildren, Charlotte Bergeron and Aindreas Corbo. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Anna Donovan and Lillian Duquette, her brother-in-law Larry Duquette, and six nieces and nephews. Kathleen was pre-deceased by her cherished daughter-in-law Ruth Donovan and her brother-in-law Robert Donovan.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, June 14, 2015 from 12-4pm at The Neighborhood Club of Quincy 27 Glendale Road Quincy MA 02169. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Baystate Wing VNA and Hospice 40 Wright St. Palmer, MA 01069. Lombard Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
