Monson-Joseph B. DeRoy, 84, passed away, May 20, 2019, surrounded by the love of family. Joe was born in Millbury, MA September 23, 1934 to the late Narcisse and Bernadette (Gagne) Deroy. He was a graduate of Holy Name Central Catholic High School, Worcester, MA and served in the US Navy during the Cold War. Joe was a self-employed sales consultant for promotional and marketing advertising for over 60 years. He was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Parish in Wilbraham. Joe was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree, and a member of the Quaboag Hills Chamber of Commerce.
Joseph leaves his loving wife of 61 years, Ruth I. (Blanchard) DeRoy and their children; Jeanne M Thibeault and her husband Donald of Spencer, Stephen B DeRoy and his wife Sarah of Douglas, Kenneth B DeRoy and his wife Michelle of Gardner, Robert M DeRoy and his wife Debbie of Tolland, CT, and Ruthanne Dos Santos and her husband Michael of Tolland, CT; brothers, Laurent DeRoy and his wife June of FL, Philip DeRoy and his wife Grace of CT; sisters, Viola Capistron of Uxbridge and Marie Vitali of CA; thirteen grandchildren, David, Danielle, Christopher, Nicole, Patrick, Kevin, Matthew, Megan, Kristina, Heather, Michael, Jonathan and Katherine; eight great grandchildren, Paige, Connor, Samuel, Raya, Evelyn, Victoria, Nicholas and Brooklyn. Joe was predeceased by five sisters (Marguerite, Therese, Veronica, Lucille, and Doris), three brothers (Yves, Viateur, and Mike), an infant grandson, Aaron and infant great granddaughter, Caroline.
The family would especially like to thank the staff at the Overlook Health Care Center in Charlton, MA for supporting Joe’s gardening hobby last summer and their compassionate care during his final months.
Visiting hours will be held, Friday, May 31, 2019 from 5-7pm in Lombard Funeral Home, 3 Bridge St Monson, MA. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11am in St Cecilia's Parish 42 Main St. Wilbraham, MA. (please gather directly at the church). Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Central Cemetery in Millbury, MA.
