John Laffan

June 17, 1948 — June 10, 2010

John "Jack" M. Laffan, 61, of Palmer Rd, died Thursday at Wing Memorial Hospital with his family at his side. Born June 17, 1948 in Taunton, MA to the late Vincent and Geraldine (Ehrlich) Laffan, he has been a resident of Monson for many years. Jack retired from Mass Mutual after 21 years as an actuary. He was an active member of the Monson-Glendale United Methodist Church serving as the chairman for the Board of Trustees and a member of the finance committee. He was also active with Boy Scout Troop 776, former president of the Monson PTO, former soccer coach with the Monson Park and Rec Dept and an avid candlepin bowler. Jack was involved with the former "Child's Wish" program now "Make a Wish". Former president of the Western Mass Kidney Foundation and he was active with REC, Residence Encounter Christ, Hampden County House of Correction.

Jack leaves his wife of 35 years, Barbara C. (Card) Laffan, daughters, Heather Diaz and her husband Jose of Monson and Deanna Laffan of Springfield; brothers Daniel Laffan and Kevin Laffan both of Taunton; sisters Catherine Ouellette of Taunton, Elizabeth Costa of Gold Canyon, AZ and Colleen McKay of North Dighton, MA; two grandchildren Kyle and Molly Diaz as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jack was pre-deceased by his son Joel Isaacsen in 1986.
