John Klisiewicz

1919-2008

Monson-John Klisiewicz, 88, of Wales Road died Monday May 12, 2008, at Lifecare Center of Wilbraham. Born in Dudley, MA to the late Jan and Agnes (Markowska) Klisiewicz he has been a longtime resident of Monson. John was a Tech Sergeant for the US Army Air Corp during WWII. He served as flight engineer/gunner on a B-17 in the 8th Air Force, 452 bomb group, 3rd bombardment division stationed in England. He performed 400 flying hours and 30 missions in the European Theater. He served from 1941-1945 and was awarded the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and 4 Bronze Stars. He retired from Pratt & Whitney as a machinist after 23 years. He worked for the Town of Monson for several years after retiring from Pratt & Whitney. He was active with the Monson Fire Department and was a special officer for the Monson Police Department. John was a member of the First Church of Monson, Monson American Legion, and a life member of both the National and State 8th Air Force. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He leaves his wife of 64 years, Helen S. (Kristenson) Klisiewicz; three sons, John W. and his wife Donna of Agawam, Ronald C. and his wife Carol of Monson and Donald R. and his wife Denise of Monson; two brothers Frank and Raymond both of Monson; three sisters, his twin Jennie Kszaszcz of Ware, Jeanette Strycharz of Monson and Barbara LeDuc of Warwick, NY; grandchildren Paul Klisiewicz and his wife Leslie Lightholder of Bellingham, MA and Kristin Klisiewicz of Monson and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Edward and a sister Helen Kluceski. The family would like to thank Dr. Anthony Aquista and the staff at Lifecare Center for their care and concern. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 10am in Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St Monson with burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Monson. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 5-8pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Monson Fire Department Ambulance Fund PO Box 335 Monson, MA 01057.
