Wales- Joan Arlene Ferraro passed away at her home in Wales, MA on Tuesday, February 6th. Born on April 12, 1940, she was the daughter of Fred and Bertha Hoarle of Springfield. Over the years, Joan was a Brownie leader, Library Trustee, and Planning Board member. Joan and her husband George have been active in the community for over 30 years. She earned an Associate degree from Bay Path, a Bachelor’s from American International College and a Master’s degree from Worcester State College. She was a teacher at Wales Elementary School for more than 17 years. Joan leaves her siblings, William Hoarle and Virginia (Hoarle) Pellicano. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, George, and her four children Georgina, Frederick, Maria and Corinna; and grandchildren Alex Roy, Eva Marie (Roy) Vinson, Aaron Roy, Mani Medina, Noah Cardenas, Giada and Aidan Wingate, and Neliana, Maricel and Isabela Ferraro, and one great-grandchild, Armani Medina. Joan always gave her family unconditional love and will be sorely missed each day.
Visiting hours will be held at Monday, February 12 from 5-7pm in Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson, MA with concluding prayers at 7pm. Upon request of the family, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wales Public Library, 77 Main Street, Wales, MA 01081.
