MONSON- James R. Pascale, 76, known to his many friends as “Ruby” passed away at Baystate Medical Center on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. Jim was born on February 7, 1944 the son of the late Alice (Hanifan) Pascale and Rinaldo Pascale. He was a proud graduate of Monson High School in 1962 where he was a three sport athlete exceling in soccer, basketball and baseball. He attended Glastonbury Monastery, a catholic seminary in 1962-1963, went to college at Northampton Commercial College where he received an Associate of Science Degree in Business Management.
Jim began his long and successful career in manufacturing at Springfield Moulders/ ITT Springfield Moulders in 1979 serving as president from 1982-1992 and most recently as president at Sanderson Macleod Inc. until his retirement in 2010. Jim was proud to serve the community on numerous boards, commissions and committees as well as in the plastics industry. He served as a Trustee of Monson Savings Bank until his 75th birthday and took great pride in assisting members who were looking to the future.
Jim had many passions but racing NASCAR modified stock cars from Maine to Florida and even as far West as Indiana with his old friend and car owner Len Boelher and race car #3, known as “Old Blue” was by far the biggest. He was a fan, crewman and a sponsor as well for drivers; Bug Stevens, Fred DESARRO, Ron Bouchard, Ken Bouchard, Mike Mclaughlin, Eric Beers, Gomer Taylor, Jerry Marquis, Ryan Preece, and Ronnie Williams. He also did a stint on Eric Sandersons #16 sponsored by Flamingo Motorsports, Diversified Metals, RB Enterprises and Sanderson Macleod driven by Chris Kopec.
Jim leaves behind his two loving children, Elizabeth “Betsy” Evon and her partner Tom Shaw of Wales; Timothy Pascale and his fiancé Barbara Robert of Palmer. He will be missed and remembered fondly by his grandchildren, T.J. Pascale, Jacob Moriarty, Shamus Moriarty, Stephania Robert, Gabriella Robert, Ethan Shaw and Owen Shaw. He also leaves his sister, Dot Jenkins; his godchild and niece, Catherine Jenkins and her son Quinten.
“Ruby” and his family invite all to join at St. Patrick’s Church, Monson on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 10 AM for a Liturgy of Christian Burial. The Rite of Committal and Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
