Brimfield-Herbert Stuart Perry, 88, passed away suddenly, Monday January 22, 2024. Stuart was born in Stafford, CT January 30, 1935 to the late Herbert D. And Lauretta (Stewart) Perry. He grew up in Wales and was a graduate of the Hitchcock Free Academy in Brimfield. Stuart served in the US Army and was honorably discharged. He has been a longtime resident of Brimfield, always involved in community events. Stuart was self employed and operated Stu Perry & Sons, a painting contracting company form 1980 until his retirement in 2014.
Stuart was a former Chief of the Brimfield Fire Department, he was an active member for most of his life and was instrumental in bring Ambulance service to the town, he also served as an EMT when the service began. He also served on the Holland Fire Department as part of their underwater recovery dive team. He was a past president of the Brimfield Lions Club and the Holland Rod & Gun Club. He was active on local bowling leagues and softball leagues.
Stuart enjoyed traveling with his wife Patty, visiting Florida for many years and traveling to the Canary Islands, Hawaii and Niagra Falls. He also enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, country music and country dancing.
Stuart leaves his loving wife of 36 years, Patty L-Perry, his sons; Herbert J. Perry of Wales, Jeffrey D. Perry of Holland, Brian K. Perry of Brimfield. He was predeceased by two sons, Jimmy Stuart Perry and Timothy L. Perry. Stuart also leaves his step-children, Holly Lawrence of Holland, Dean Lawrence of Wales and Cindy Lawrence of Brimfield; brothers, Samuel D. Perry of Bristol, CT, and George W. Perry of Tolland, CT; sisters, Lauretta N. Stebbins of Enfield, Beverly Murray of Bridgewater and Alyce Gould of Enfield; four grandchildren, Herbert J. Perry, Jr of Wales, Bridget A. Perry of Wales, Joshua Perry of Holland and Kevin Perry of Southbridge; four great grandchildren, Herbert A. Perry, Eric Perry, Wyatt Perry and WillaRae Perry as well as many nieces, nephews and countless friends.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, January 26, 2024 from 5-7pm in Lombard Funeral Home. Burial will be held at a later date with Military Honors at Wales #4 Cemetery in the family lot. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Brimfield Fire Department Ambulance Service 34 A Wales Road, Brimfield, MA 01010.
