Henry (Hank) Decoteau

December 13, 1940 — April 2, 2020

Wales/Naples, FL-Henry(Hank) Decoteau, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 2, 2020.  He was born on December 13, 1940(Friday) to Felix and Veronica(Baker) Decoteau.  He grew up and was schooled in the Forest Park area of Springfield, MA. He entered the United States Air Force at the age of 18 and as he promised his father, completed twenty years and retired.  His military service took him to Korea, Vietnam, and Germany.  Hank continued working, holding many jobs such as Postal Clerk, Tisbury Policeman, Martha’s Vineyard Fence Company owner, and Dukes Country Veteran’s Agent.  He was happiest when he was serving his fellow veterans.  Hank was a Massachusetts department vice commander in the American Legion, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Day Spring Lodge, and past commander of the Legion of Honor in the Melha Shrine Temple.  He couldn’t pass up a parade or a chance to pay tribute the country he loved.

Hank leaves his son Henry, Jr and grandsons, Sean and Christian.  He also leaves his wife of almost 50 years, Bette(Anair).  They traveled together all over the world and were happiest when they were together exploring some new adventure.  Hank will be best remembered for his robust spirit, his ability to be a good friend, and his generous sole.  He was a member of the Wales Baptist Church and leaves this earthly life to be united with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  He always said he was sure that he was going to heaven because he’d served his time in Hell in Vietnam.   We are assured that he is enjoying family and his beloved Kiki, out of pain, and praising God.
