Harriet Royce

Harriet M. Royce, 80, died Saturday, May 22, 2010. Born in Wales, Massachusetts July 7, 1929 to the late Gordon C. and Anna G. (Hynes) Royce, she was a lifelong resident of Wales. Harriet retired in 1989 from the Burgess Elementary School in Sturbridge after thirty years of teaching. She was a communicant of St. Christopher's Church in Brimfield, a member of the Mass Teachers Association, National Education Association, and the Wales Council on Aging. Harriet was instrumental in creating Silver Meadow Senior Housing in Wales and served on its Board of Directors from inception. Harriet was predeceased by her brother Lawrence H. Royce. She leaves her extended family, Sally Conrad, Stephen and Audrey Conrad and family, the Zlotnick family and many wonderful, caring friends. Harriet's family would like to thank the staff of Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehab for their dedicated support and untiring care.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 27, 2010, with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Christopher's Church, burial will follow at Wales #4 Cemetery, on Laurel Hill Rd in Wales. Friends are asked to gather directly at the church. Memorial Contributions may be made to MSPCA-Angell, ATTN: Donations, 350 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130. Lombard Funeral Home of Monson has been entrusted with Harriet's care and arrangements.
