Wales-Guy M. Letourneau, 74, passed away, Saturday at home August 26, 2023. Guy was born in Waltham, MA on June 2, 1949 to the late Roger N. and Vivian P. (Deschenes) Letourneau. He was a graduate of Westfield State University with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Education. Guy retired from the Springfield School district in 2015. During his tenure, he taught History at the High School of Commerce and Duggan Middle School.
Guy was successful in starting the Chess Club at both the high school and middle school. He also owned and operated The Craft Collage in Storrs, CT and Craft Cove in Old Orchard Beach, ME. which held his self-crafted jewelry and leather items. His greatest joy was his granddaughters. He loved attending their sporting events and helping them with life lessons.
Guy leaves his loving wife of 54 years, Cathy (Gassnola) Letourneau; daughters, Dawn Ruffini and her husband Peter of Palmer, Stephanie Whitley of Agawam; son in-law, Paul Henry and his wife Beth of Wilbraham; five granddaughters, who lovingly called him "Pepere", Kathryn Henry, Allison Henry, Abigail Smith, Yvette Whitley and Cecelia Whitley. Guy was predeceased by his brother, Mark Letourneau and leaves his sister in-law Jill of Virginia, predeceased by his brother, Scott Letourneau and leaves his sister in-law Valerie of New York and predeceased by his brother Luke Letourneau. He also leaves brother in-law, Phil Gassnola and his wife Maureen of Springfield, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral home service will be held at 5pm with visiting hours continuing until 7pm. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
