Gordon W. Doss

1949-2008

Monson- Gordon W. Doss, 58 of Bumstead Road died suddenly, Friday August 8, 2008 at his home after a 16 year battle with heart disease. Born in Springfield to the late Wayne S. and Elizabeth (Chandler) Doss he has been a resident of Monson since 1986. Gordon was a graduate of Springfield Technical High School and attended Springfield College. He retired from Baystate Health Systems in 2004 as an EMT. He served in the US Army for two tours serving in Vietnam and Germany where he was also in the medical field. Gordon made the comitment to serve in Emergency services for over 30 years. He has been a member of the Monson Fire Department and was also an EMT for the department since 1986. Gordon was an avid Redsox fan and a model railroad hobbyist. He had a deep love of family, friends and his dogs. He leaves his wife of 26 years Gail L. (Nicolau) Doss, a son Jeremy A. Doss who is in the Navy in Norfolk, VA stationed on the USS Cole and his wife Erika and their children Dalamar and Talon. A step-son Dominic Mastroianni Jr and his wife Wendi of Holland and their children Ariana and a daughter expected in October, a brother John C. Doss and his wife Carol of Randolph Center, VT 2 nieces and 2 nephews. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2008 from 3-7pm at the funeral home. A family graveside service will be held privately. Memorial contributions may be made to the Monson Fire Department Ambulance Fund PO Box 335 Monson, MA 01057 or to the Bethany Cemetery Restoration fund PO Box 473, Monson, MA 01057.
