Biography
Monson-Gloria M. "Glo" (Barry) Jennings, 87, died peacefully Sunday, May 15, 2011, surrounded by the love of family. Born in Brookfield, MA, September 26, 1923, to the late Francis and Elizabeth (Roach) Barry, she grew up in Hampden with her ten siblings working on the Barry Mink Ranch. She later lived in California for 20 years and was a waitress and bartender for many establishments. She was also a seamstress making many clothing items for family and friends. Glo moved to Monson ten years ago to be closer to family. She was active at the Monson Senior Center and played in the pitch league. Glo spent her time taking care of family and sharing her great sense of humor.
Glo leaves her daughter Connie M. Fox of Bondsville, and grandchildren; Marshall Fox of Chicoppe and Tammy Desreuisseau of Belchertown, who were primary caregivers. She also leaves two sons, Raymond H. Bessette and Marshall I. McCord of Georgia; a brother Edward Barry of Palmer; two sisters Margaret Barry and Mary Reilly of California; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Glo was pre-deceased by a son Kane J. McCord, six brothers and a sister.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Lombard Funeral Home, 3 bridge St. Monson, from 6-7:30pm with words of reflection at 7:30pm.
