Biography

Frances Virginia "Ginny" Mizen died January 7, 2011, at Garden View Care Center in O'Fallon, Missouri, at nearly 98 years of age. She and her husband, Ernest W. "Ernie" Mizen, were long-time residents of Monson until Ernie's retirement from American-Standard. They were members of First Church of Monson.

After Ernie's retirement, Ginny and Ernie relocated to Melbourne, Florida, where the mild climate allowed Ernie to play tennis, and both of them to garden and be outdoors, year- round. They later relocated to Lake St. Louis, Missouri, to be near their daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Robert Gary.

Ginny loved being outdoors. She was an avid gardener and bird-watcher. She was also a skilled homemaker, with special talents in hand-work, including crocheting, knitting, and sewing. Most of all, she was a loving, kind, and thoughtful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and sister-in-law. Her cheerful smile and gentle spirit are sorely missed.

Ginny is survived by three grandchildren (Robert B. Gary of Altoona, Wisconsin; Ginny Ponzar of St. Charles, Missouri; and Linda Robinson of Plano, Texas), a sister-in-law (Laura Mizen of Chelmsford, Massachusetts), a brother-in-law (Robert Fay of Monson, Massachusetts), six great-grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and fifteen nieces and nephews (including Barbara Allbut Brown; Candace Fay Erickson, Elizabeth Fay, Marilyn Young MacLean, Lawrence Robert Mizen, Jiggs Allbut Sirico and Becky Young.)

She was predeceased by: her husband, Ernest W. Mizen; her sister, Gloria Reeves MacMaster; three brothers, Oswald, Russell, and Edward Reeves; her son, Warren E. Mizen; her daughter, Carole Mizen Gary; her son-in-law, Robert S. Gary; a niece, Nancy Young Matheson; two nephews, Bruce Mizen and Ronald Mizen; and eight sisters- and brothers-in law, Joyce and William Allbut, Grace Fay, Robert Mizen, Ronald and Millie Mizen, and Dorothy and Sherwood Young.

A memorial service for Ginny Mizen will be held Monday, September 19, 2011 at 10 a.m. at First Church of Monson. It will be followed immediately by a burial service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Monson for both Ginny and Ernie Mizen.
