Monson-George A. Tucker, 88, of Palmer Road died Tuesday February 10, 2009. Born in Palmer, MA to the late George and Myrtie (Ravlin) Tucker he has been a life long resident of Monson. George retired from Armco Steel in Palmer after 27 years. He was a Sergeant in the Army Air-Corp during WWII. George was a member of the American Legion Post # 241 in Monson and was a former president of the United Steel Workers of America local # 7644. He was also a lifelong candlepin bowler and bowled into his 80âs at the Monson Lanes. George was awarded a lifetime season pass to Monson High School Athletics in recognition of his support. His wife of more than 61 years, Lorraine A. (Malo) Tucker predeceased him in September of 2008 and their daughter Margaret Ann Tucker in 1967. George leaves two sons David Tucker and his wife Maureen of Plymouth and Robert Tucker and his wife Paula of Monson; sisters Thelma MacKenzie of Ware and Nettie Bartolucci of Palmer and four grandchildren Matthew, John, Brian and Samantha. He is predeceased by his brothers Cedric Tucker and Gerald Tucker, sisters Retha Smart, Shirley Fritz, Irene Burdick and Betty Schofield. Visiting hours will be Friday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10am in Lombard Funeral Home with burial at Bethany Cemetery both in Monson.
