George J Martin

Brimfield- George James Martin, 63, of Brimfield Massachusetts passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 10th 2019. George was born on June 18th 1956 in Athol Massachusetts to Virginia Brunelle and William Martin. He attended Monson High School before joining the army. He was stationed in Johnston Island during the Vietnam War. Upon discharge from the army, he took a job as a truck driver and visited 49 of 50 states. He loved to tell stories of his travels and often stated that before he passed, his dream was to see Alaska, the final U.S. state. George took pride and sought happiness in his children, his job and cooking.

George leaves behind his children, Amanda Martin of Monson, Massachusetts and her boyfriend Ryan Kane of Brimfield, Massachusetts; Tyler Martin of Palmer and his fiancé Rachel Little of Palmer, Massachusetts and his daughter Yvette-Marie Martins Jurgens and his granddaughter  Virginia Nimchick both of St. Cloud, Minnesota. He also leaves behind many beloved cousins and cherished friends.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, November 22,2019 in Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson from 11am- 1pm.  A celebration of life will begin at 1pm in the funeral home followed by a procession to the Massachusetts Veterans' Cemetery in Agawam with 3pm Military Honors in the Chapel.  In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to assist with the funeral expenses.
