Colchester,CT -Elaine L. (Phillips) Wright Hayes, 94, died Friday, October 19, 2012, surrounded by the love of family. Elaine was born February 7, 1918 in Brimfield to the late Louis and Ruth Newell (Hubbard) Phillips. She was a graduate of Hitchcock Free Academy in Brimfield and Nasson College in Maine. She taught high school at Hitchcock Free Academy. She was married on September 16, 1945 in San Francisco, CA to Enoch G. Wright, where he served in the Coast Guard. They returned to Brimfield in 1948.

She was pre-deceased by her husband Enoch G. Wright, August 10, 1954. Elaine was an Administrative Assistant at Monson Development Center for many years. In addition, she owned Elaine P. Wright Insurance/Real Estate Agency.

She became a member of the First Congregational Church in Brimfield, April 1933. She was the oldest living member of the church and a longtime resident of Brimfield who was involved in the historical society and garden club before moving to Connecticut to be closer to family.

Mrs. Elaine L. (Phillips) Wright Hayes leaves her daughter Kimberly Garcia of Florida and three grandchildren; Kim Gillespie-Burnham of Connecticut, James Gillespie of Connecticut, Jessica Sponheimer of California; two great grandsons Ethan D Gillespie and Liam B Gillespie; Her sister Barbara Philips Hawrylciw of Massachusetts


Funeral Services were private and burial took place at Brimfield Cemetery in Brimfield, MA.
