Brimfield- Edna M. (Parker) Brouthers, 97, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017 surrounded by the love of family. Edna was born June 20, 1920 in Springfield, MA to the late Maurice M. and Susan C. (Carleton) Parker. She grew up in Springfield and graduated from Commerce High School. She then lived in Monson for many years before moving to Brimfield in 2003. Edna worked at Forbes and Wallace and then Bosch before devoting her time to raising her family. Edna was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Monson. She loved birds, flowers, gemstones, crosswords and jigsaw puzzles. In her youth she was very athletic and enjoyed swimming, riding, and figure skating. Her greatest joy came from her family.
Edna was pre-deceased by her husband, Paul E. Brouthers in 1996 after 48 years of marriage. She leaves her children: Susan (Howard) Tocman, Joan (Russell) Smith, Nancy Vining, Sandra (Michael) Jamrog; 16 grandchildren: Emily (Roy) Lainson, Elizabeth (John) Salazar, Amos (Kristine) Smith, Hannah (Ryan) LaPierre, Grace (Colbey) Snow, Uriah Smith, Lydia (Greg) Greene, Mary, Asa, Noah and Achsah Smith, Jacob, Sam and Sarah Tocman, Nick and Helen Jamrog; 18 great grandchildren: Nora, Zachary, and Abigail Lainson; Zoe, Gabriel, Lucas, Ezra, Zea, and Evelyn Salazar; Leah, Bannan, Eden, and Turner Smith; Emma, Julia, Cooper, and Tanner LaPierre and expected baby Greene. She also leaves nieces and nephews: Michael and Tom Parker, Janet Irwin, Maureen Butler, and Patricia Holden. Edna was predeceased by a son, Paul S. Brouthers in 2000, and her siblings, Maurice R. Parker and Mildred Butler.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 28, 2017, in Lombard Funeral Home, 3 Bridge St., Monson. A visiting hour will be held from 1-2pm with a memorial service and celebration of life beginning at 2pm in the funeral home.
