Douglas W Walker

East Longmeadow- Douglas W. Walker, 91, passed away peacefully, October 14, 2023 at the home of his daughter.  Doug was born in West Springfield, September 5, 1932 to the late Raymond and Thelma Walker.  He was a graduate of West Springfield High School, Class of 1950 of which he was the Class President. He was predeceased by his late brother Navy pilot Lt. Cmdr Raymond H. Walker Jr.

He attended Duke University before enlisting in the US Air Force in 1950.  He received his commission in 1953, through the Aviation Cadet Program.  He served on active duty until 1956 as a navigator-bombardier.  He then served 30 years with the 104 TFW, Mass Air National Guard at Barnes MAP in Westfield, MA.  The last 20 years of his career as a fulltime member of the unit.  He served in the position of Radar Intercept Officer, Intelligence Officer, Comptroller and Chief of Supply.  Douglas retired in 1987 at the rank of Lt. Colonel.

Doug was an avid golfer and spent many years as a member of the East Mountain Country Club in Westfield.  He also enjoyed watching all types of sports, from high school, college, amateur to professional.

Doug leaves his daughter Lori Siciliano and her husband Antonio of Monson; a son, Douglas W. Walker, Jr and his wife Susan of Pittsburg, CA; a step-daughter   Tracy Pincelli and her husband Claudio of Otis; eight beloved grandchildren, Ali, Ryan and his wife Eleanor, Kevin, Tyler, Mia, Rachel, Luca and his wife Marion and Adam; four great grandchildren, Kaylee, Ella, Malcolm, Frances and a great granddaughter on the way.

Lombard Funeral Home of Monson has been entrusted with the arrangements. A private service with Military Honors will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
