Biography

Monson-Dorothy E. (Hatch) Gulbrandson, 94, died Monday May 12, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springfield December 19, 1919 to the late Homer L. and May E.(Blair) Hatch, she grew up in Hampden before moving to Monson.Mrs. Gulbrandson worked at Hatch's General Store, for many years, which was the family business. She also drove school busses for Hampden and Monson before she retired. Dorothy was a member of the Federated Community Church in Hampden, she was active with the church women's group and was often found cooking and serving church suppers. Dorothy was a former member of the Hampden Grange and Eastern Star.

Mrs Gulbrandson was predeceased by her husband Walter H. Gulbrandson. She leaves a son Hans Gulbrandson and his wife Stella of Monson; three grandchildren, Eric Gulbrandson and his wife Jaimie of Bondsville, Justin Gulbrandson and Nancy White of Monson, Amber Faulha and her husband Matthew of Ludlow; and six great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank their hospice nurse Samantha and their nurses aid Alicia for their care. A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 10am at Greenlawn Cemetery on Callender Ave in East Longmeadow. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Federated Community Church Main St. Hampden, MA 01036.
